| What
to expect
To start the day there will be a pre-breakfast session. We will play with a variety of loosening & stretching exercises from Eastern cultures, plus some quieter meditative work to appreciate the start of the day. In the mid-morning classes (usually outside), we will investigate the movement principles of Tai Chi which provide simple yet powerful ways to enliven, strengthen and balance our bodies and minds, whatever our age or ability. During the week you will learn short Tai Chi form sequences for you to take away and practice. You are sure to leave with something stimulating and practical, that you can use every day. On afternoons when we are not out walking, there will be a late afternoon class, with a chance to develop the themes which emerge as the week progresses. Two of the walks will be shorter ones after lunch, for just a couple of hours, and the third one will be an all-day hike with picnic. Good food is an essential element of a retreat at La Serrania. Carefully and freshly prepared each day, sometimes directly from the garden, meals are packed with vitality and local flavour and accompanied by well chosen wines. Vegetarians and omnivarians are all catered for. Is this for me? This retreat is ideal for those new to Tai Chi or wanting a refresher, as well as for those wanting to explore ways of healing and balancing themselves, to become more grounded and better able to deal with the stresses and strains of everyday life. Who's who? ADRIAN MURRAYs interactive teaching offers practitioners, either novice or more-experienced, an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the art through the study of both form and partner work. The instruction, whilst founded upon traditional Tai-Chi principles and methods, is elucidated in a uniquely lively and humorous way. TIM PENNELL, the Canadian co-founder of La Serranía, has been exploring the mountains of Mallorca since childhood and will choose walks to suit the abilities and interests of the group. |
